Some tips on being homeless because who know's when someone could use a survival tip or two:
1- Never, ever, ever borrow or accept money from anyone on the streets no matter how hard up you are. You will be owned if you do. 2- Save on Foods, Mc Donalds, Walmart, A & W & Tim Horton's all have the best Wi-fi connection. 3- Condense your life into one back pack. Simplify, simplify, simplify. This will save you mentally and physically in the end. 4- Bear spray. That is all. 5- Invest in a $10 shower vinyl Coleman pack. Stick it in a back pack and fill it up in rest stops. It's $13 dollars to shower in hotels or truck stops and that can add up very fast. 6- Find places to sleep that are dark and you can tuck yourself in 7- If you have to sleep under a bridge, tuck yourself up high and wear all black to hide yourself out from late night people sketching out or wanting to fight or looking for trouble. 8- There will always be good people who come around in spite of your situation. 9- Coleman shower pack, Truck stops, hotels & motels, Rec centers & campgrounds are good places to shower. Rivers are great for bathing. 10- If you have wheels, you are so blessed. 11- It is easier to get into a shelter if you have kids 12-Even though they say no food in your room in the shelter, some rules are meant to be broken. A back pack is great for snacks lol 13-Carry a concealed key knife- yes a key knife - easy to hide and you'll be thankful you have one. Mine was given to me by a street warrior himself. 14-Homeless life becomes so hard that it is so easy to stay stuck. DON"T STAY STUCK. 15. If you have a vehicle the best places to sleep are casino parking lots, walmart parking lots, safe feeling communities, hotel parking lots, service road truck line ups, conservatory places, river sides, crown land, ice shacks 16- A lot of people do not have your best intentions at heart so be careful what you're doing and who you take advice from when you are feeling low. 17. Remind yourself only YOU have the power to get out of the situation, 18- Most cities have community support centers and places to get food and counseling 19- The food bank line is hell. But there is some food at the end of those long awful lines. 20- The dollar store fucking rocks for little gadgets and nic-nacks if you need to set up camp somewhere 21- Try and pack a tent and find a spot you won't have to move often. Moving is so mentally draining and exhausting. 22- Don't stick around too long in one place 23- Don't buy weed off the streets. DON"T, DON"T DO IT. Don;t buy anything from anyone.. don't. 24- Don't tell anyone how vulnerable you are. People prey like motherfuckers. 25- Make up wipes work great for wiping your hands and face to freshen up. 26- Always have your toothbrush and paste with you. When you feel tired you can brush your teeth as a psychological hack to make you feel more awake to keep persevering. 27- If a street person asks you for water, it's usually to shoot up, not drink. Don't judge these poor hurting souls and save your drinking water. 28- empathize, empathize, empathize. If you are reactive to everyone and everything or are judgmental, you are hooped. 29- Always watch your back. Always. 30- Smash the tops of feet and gouge eyes if you ever get attacked and don't be afraid to fight back. 31- If you are so lucky, spend time in nature if you can 32- writing and books are a good escape and easy to pack in your bag 33-Learn to love the body you were born in real fast because doing hair and makeup ain't a thing. 34- There is a lot of free clothing that get's given out at shelters 35- Stick to yourself. Better chance at getting off the streets. 36- If you need to warm your shower pack up faster stick it under your floor heater if you have a car. 37- Get your hands on a sleeping bag and foil emergency blanket somehow 38-Always look for the beauty in the moment. Everything is art. Everything. 39-Mindset is key. Your body will always give up before your mind does. Careful what you feed your thoughts 40- Never sleep in truck stop areas. You will be meat. 41- Not all medical professionals and staff in shelters are leading you down the right path. Be choosy if you can. 42- Learn to think for yourself or else you're fucked. Intuition baby. Intuition. 43- Plug ins are found outside gas stations and fast food joints and in picnic parks to charge your phone. 44- Picking bottles will get you money. 45- Learn to wear clothing you can wake up and go to sleep in. Trust me. 46- The river valley is a good spot to hide and set up camp without hasstle for the most part. Again, don't stay in one place too long. In BC there are a lot of meth labs in forrest areas. some in alberta crown land as well. be careful. 47- Don't listen to your music or you can't hear what is coming behind you 48- Vodka helps, be mindful on how much you're consuming and if you drink too much you will be off your game to stick up for yourself if need be. 49- Shelters are sometimes are rougher than the streets but gain you access to other supports if you can get in. It is NOT EASY getting into a shelter. 50- Keep your head held high and don't give a fuck about the judgement you will receive. People will be judging no matter what you do, so fuck it. Keep going. Keep fighting the good fight. Your situation does not define you and people who judge you and look down on you DO NOT matter :)

Today I'm wearing a tie from Case Western Reserve University
This week is Police Week. I want to thank everyone in law enforcement. Unfortunately, many events honoring our fallen police officers have had to be canceled due to COVID-19. I would like to take a moment to mention those who have died serving Ohio in 2020. Let's have a moment of silence in remembrance of their sacrifice and the sacrifices of those currently serving Ohio.
A close friend of mine, Dwight Radcliff died on May 6th. Fran and I attended his funeral. He was the longest serving sheriff at the time of his retirement in 2013.
Former state representative Andy Thompson also unexpectedly yesterday. He served the state well.
On Tuesday, I talked about childcare and explained the concerns we had. We've been discussing this for weeks, trying to figure out what the best practices for reopening would be. There really is not enough data about children and COVID-19. We want to get more data and find a way to reopen safely, in a way that protects children and childcare employees. if we do this wrong we will run the risk of exposing more Ohioans to COVID-19. Childcare providers will be allowed to reopen on May 31st. This will look different from before and I am going to have Joni Close, President of the Sisters of Charity Foundation speak about the changes we plan to make.

Maximum of 9 per classroom for most children, with toddlers having a maximum of 6 per classroom. Hygienic standards will be increased dramatically. These will be only some of the changes and there will be more. Some of these might make you somewhat uncomfortable due to it being different but we believe it will be the best for you and your children.

There's really no playbook out there for doing this. We need to be cautious to keep everyone safe during this pandemic. We will be constantly monitoring the current situation and we may make changes as necessary based on what we see.
We're going to perform a study into the childcare situation as it reopens. This will make Ohio a leader in the country, as we will be capable of learning more about how the virus spreads. Unfortunately, there is a lot of what we don't know and that will affect how we proceed. Childcare providers will need help due to our changes. We are going to give 60 million dollars to Ohio childcare providers, both public and private, in order to ensure they are properly funded. We will have additional information available online shortly.

May is a new chapter in our response to COVID-19. We're trying to keep a balance between health of Ohioans and the health of our economy. Some more businesses may be reopening but keep in mind that it will be up to the local health departments to control what reopens and what does not.
Day Camps will reopen on May 31st. The protocols governing day camps will be released tomorrow online.
BMVs will reopen on May 26th. We want you to use the online services, as we've put a lot of effort into moving many services there. There will be some cases where you have to go into the BMV but only go as absolutely necessary. There is still an extension on renewals, so you do not have to do this immediately.
Campgrounds will also open completely, on May 21st. They will have to meet certain requirements that are currently available online.
Gyms and fitness center may reopen on May 26th. The new protocols for them will be available later today. Non contact and limited sports will also reopen on May 26th. Other, more contact-oriented sports will be investigated for reopening as well.
Pools will also be able reopen on May 26th. The CDC has found no evidence of the spread of COVID-19 in water. Water parks and amusement parks will not be reopening based on our guidance.
Horse racing can reopen on May 22nd but spectators will be prohibited. This does not mean that Casinos or Racinos can reopen.

231,795 tested in total. Of those infected, 4,121 were health care workers.
We're digging deep into the policies related to childcare and how it will affect the spread of COVID-19. I want to thank our entire childcare team. We're going to be working with a national study, that will have a large focus on Ohio, in order to find out the best practices for reopening childcare. We're working to become a nationwide leader in the study of childcare during this pandemic.

2:36 PM: Question Period Begins
Regarding childcare and with the possibility of further illness and death in children with COVID-19, is it possible we are gambling the lives of our children by reopening and doing this study?
Amy Acton: I don't think we're gambling by doing this. Everyone is important and deserves protection. We are going to do this based on expert advice on best practices. We need to give parents a chance to go back to work and prosper. We know of the cases of children getting far sicker and we're paying close attention to this. COVID-19 has an exaggerated response on our immune system no matter the age, but we want to make sure to learn and understand how it affects children, as well, as time goes on.
2:39 PM: There are concerns that children are not receiving the education they would have otherwise. Will schools be capable of reopening in the fall and what can you do to ensure they are receiving the education they need if they do not?
Governor: I think this is a major concern. Many teachers are making strides in distance learning but some kids don't have internet or have other issues. The fact that we know so little about COVID-19 makes us feel that schools cannot reopen any time soon but every school is currently looking into ways they can reopen. We still don't know how things will be by the fall but we will do everything we can.
2:42 PM: It sounds like many childcare centers will have to turn families away. How do you plan on advising them on that subject?
Governor: I think it's going to be difficult for any of us to predict how the market will change with these new rules. We are giving money to childcare providers in order to ensure they are capable of reopening. This is a work in progress, which means that we're still learning and finding out new ways to lessen the spread of COVID-19, while reopening childcare.
Childcare providers may have to hire more employees in order to serve the families they had in the past. Unfortunately, some may not be capable of reopening due to financial troubles. We did all of these things in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we will keep making these decisions with that in mind.
2:46 PM: It seems that cases, deaths, and other metrics have plateaued rather than gone down. What has changed in how you perceive success as time has gone on?
Governor: We've seen a plateau over three weeks in terms of all of our metrics. We were most worried about a large surge. We're still ramping up our testing. We're doing 8,000 tests every day sat this point. We need to keep our testing capacity increasing while also ensuring our supply chain can keep getting those tests out to those who need them. Testing and contact tracing is how we're going to keep this virus from spreading. There are many other indicators, such as traffic rates throughout the state, that we are looking at in order to make future decisions regarding mitigations.

Amy Acton: No one on our team is ignoring the concern and worry that Ohioans are feeling right now. As we go on, you need to keep in mind how at risk you are and use that knowledge to make your decisions and keep yourself safe.
2:51 PM: Using what we've learned about antibody testing, how do we know that we didn't have a surge earlier?
Amy Acton: This is a process that will take years. We won't understand COVID-19 for quite some time. Many have been claiming that they had many symptoms of COVID-19 early on in the knowledge of the disease. Obviously, as time goes on, hindsight will be 20-20. We'll keep looking into new information as it comes out.
2:54 PM: The most prevalent question I've received is regarding the unemployment system not serving Ohioans properly. I know you've made improvements but many feel it is not enough. What more can you do for them?
Lieutenant Governor: This is the thing I've been most frustrated for Ohioans about personally. Director Kim Hall has been working to do everything her team can do to improve the system and has already created the new system for 1099 employees. I know that around 100,000 people have not been served yet and many others have not been able to get through to receive more information on their claims. We're all doing everything we can to expand the system as possible. Our system is very old and difficult to update but many other states are facing these same issues. Unfortunately, we have received many fraudulent claims and those need to be policed and denied. This is part of what leads to such delays.
2:59 PM: What targets will state agencies be hitting in terms of reductions in the coming fiscal year?
Governor: We'll be discussing that with the legislature. We've already made very tough cuts but we don't have any new information available at this time. One thing I can say is that this is a very difficult time. Costs are going up and our revenues are decreasing dramatically.
3:01 PM: Do you have an idea of how many families might be left out of day cares? Will licensing become more flexible? What about using school facilities?
Governor: It's not our goal to have any families left out of the system. We're doing surveys on how many providers will be coming back. We'll adjust as necessary. We can't make any definitive statements at this time.
Lieutenant Governor: Please remember that we're working on supporting the childcare industry to ensure that all of this can work.
3:03 PM: Are you going to remove Dr. Acton's order that closed school facilities until June in order to allow youth sports to reopen?
Governor: We were actually just discussing that earlier. It's a very good point. We're still looking into that.
Lieutenant Governor: Grounds are not technically closed by the order, only buildings. We will not be forcing any local community to reopen. I am sure that as we go on, there will be things that slipped through the cracks and we want to ensure that the lines of communication are open as much as possible.
3:06 PM: Are you concerned about a pending legal battle over your orders? As you know, Wisconsin's stay at home order was struck down by their Supreme court.
Governor: I have already been sued a lot. We want to ensure that our orders conform more to what we are seeing day to day. We are seeing stories from Europe about second waves and we really don't want to have to see that in Ohio. We need to be very careful as everything opens up. Staying safe in this crucial time will decide our future numbers and whether we have to close again.
3:08 PM: There is a feeling that your Minority Health Task Force hasn't made any new statements or released more information. What is going on with this?
Governor: I will be talking about that either Monday or Tuesday. This virus has pulled back the curtain on poverty and racial issues, especially in regards to health care access. We've worked with the legislature to look into issues of infant and maternal mortality and we saw these issues already. We're now going to have to figure out new ways to help African American communities in Ohio. That will come next week.
3:11 PM: Why are we not hearing more about treatment? Also will we not be returning to normal life until a vaccine comes out? Is Hydroxychloroquine being given out to patients?
Amy Acton: I talked a lot about treatment early on but I can talk about it more in the future. We've received shipments of new drugs for use against COVID-19. There is still developing information on drugs like Hydroxychloroquine, in terms of its affect on COVID-19. For now we'll have to treat the symptoms up until we can find a cure, if we can find a cure. The thing that worries me the most is the low oxygen levels found in those with COVID-19, who are walking around, not even realizing it.
3:16 PM: How can you prove to those who are trusting in your orders that reopening as we are is safe?
Amy Acton: When we first made our orders, we were using information from George Bush's administration, that we believed would best protect Ohioans. We do know that this has had effects on the economy and even people's mental and physical health. This is going to be a collaborative process but it needs to go on with caution. The biggest thing that will slow and stop the spread of disease will be how everyone lives. Be judicious with your choices and decisions as time goes on.
3:19 PM: How do you plan on bringing forward gun reforms in Ohio that you promised, despite the pandemic?
Governor: That's a continuing discussion with the legislature.
3:21 PM: There's been information in certain nursing home facilities regarding the zone and region system you've mentioned that showed that some of them have no information regarding that system. What do you think about that?
Governor: This is not something that should be happening. I believe you that this is happening but it's something that I do not want to have happening. I don't know what facility you're talking about but I think we're going to keep moving forward on that.
Amy Acton: I'll look into this and speak to our leaders in that area regarding improving this.
3:24 PM: Are we getting close to returning to normal regarding surgeries?
Governor: It's been in the past week or so that we've released new orders regarding that. We need to keep monitoring our hospital capacity as time goes on in order to decide if we can return to normal

Remodeling/Add-ons- A lot of these use Amazon affiliation links, but I never mind that. The people who take the time to figure out how to do things correctly, like paint over RV wallpaper, deserve whatever dime Amazon (trust me, it’s not a lot) is willing to throw them after I buy something linked from their site. It’s much better than me going through trial and error and spending a bunch of money on things that don’t work. Doesn’t cost me anything to go from their site to Amazon, so even if I don’t buy the product they recommend or if it’s no longer available, I can scroll through similar items and pick something more suitable for our situation/RV. I don’t always know the best keywords to put in for a search, so this gets me halfway there. At least once I see what they’re being called on Amazon, I know better what keywords to use (or even save myself some humiliation out on the road when I can call something by its common name, rather than “Do you have one of those thingamajiggies you hang on the wall so your plates pop out?”). You could call it RV-literacy lessons, I guess.

Today I'm wearing a tie from Case Western Reserve University
This week is Police Week. I want to thank everyone in law enforcement. Unfortunately, many events honoring our fallen police officers have had to be canceled due to COVID-19. I would like to take a moment to mention those who have died serving Ohio in 2020. Let's have a moment of silence in remembrance of their sacrifice and the sacrifices of those currently serving Ohio.
A close friend of mine, Dwight Radcliff died on May 6th. Fran and I attended his funeral. He was the longest serving sheriff at the time of his retirement in 2013.
Former state representative Andy Thompson also unexpectedly yesterday. He served the state well.
On Tuesday, I talked about childcare and explained the concerns we had. We've been discussing this for weeks, trying to figure out what the best practices for reopening would be. There really is not enough data about children and COVID-19. We want to get more data and find a way to reopen safely, in a way that protects children and childcare employees. if we do this wrong we will run the risk of exposing more Ohioans to COVID-19. Childcare providers will be allowed to reopen on May 31st. This will look different from before and I am going to have Joni Close, President of the Sisters of Charity Foundation speak about the changes we plan to make.

Maximum of 9 per classroom for most children, with toddlers having a maximum of 6 per classroom. Hygienic standards will be increased dramatically. These will be only some of the changes and there will be more. Some of these might make you somewhat uncomfortable due to it being different but we believe it will be the best for you and your children.

There's really no playbook out there for doing this. We need to be cautious to keep everyone safe during this pandemic. We will be constantly monitoring the current situation and we may make changes as necessary based on what we see.
We're going to perform a study into the childcare situation as it reopens. This will make Ohio a leader in the country, as we will be capable of learning more about how the virus spreads. Unfortunately, there is a lot of what we don't know and that will affect how we proceed. Childcare providers will need help due to our changes. We are going to give 60 million dollars to Ohio childcare providers, both public and private, in order to ensure they are properly funded. We will have additional information available online shortly.

May is a new chapter in our response to COVID-19. We're trying to keep a balance between health of Ohioans and the health of our economy. Some more businesses may be reopening but keep in mind that it will be up to the local health departments to control what reopens and what does not.
Day Camps will reopen on May 31st. The protocols governing day camps will be released tomorrow online.
BMVs will reopen on May 26th. We want you to use the online services, as we've put a lot of effort into moving many services there. There will be some cases where you have to go into the BMV but only go as absolutely necessary. There is still an extension on renewals, so you do not have to do this immediately.
Campgrounds will also open completely, on May 21st. They will have to meet certain requirements that are currently available online.
Gyms and fitness center may reopen on May 26th. The new protocols for them will be available later today. Non contact and limited sports will also reopen on May 26th. Other, more contact-oriented sports will be investigated for reopening as well.
Pools will also be able reopen on May 26th. The CDC has found no evidence of the spread of COVID-19 in water. Water parks and amusement parks will not be reopening based on our guidance.
Horse racing can reopen on May 22nd but spectators will be prohibited. This does not mean that Casinos or Racinos can reopen.

We're digging deep into the policies related to childcare and how it will affect the spread of COVID-19. I want to thank our entire childcare team. We're going to be working with a national study, that will have a large focus on Ohio, in order to find out the best practices for reopening childcare. We're working to become a nationwide leader in the study of childcare during this pandemic.

Regarding childcare and with the possibility of further illness and death in children with COVID-19, is it possible we are gambling the lives of our children by reopening and doing this study?
Amy Acton: I don't think we're gambling by doing this. Everyone is important and deserves protection. We are going to do this based on expert advice on best practices. We need to give parents a chance to go back to work and prosper. We know of the cases of children getting far sicker and we're paying close attention to this. COVID-19 has an exaggerated response on our immune system no matter the age, but we want to make sure to learn and understand how it affects children, as well, as time goes on.
2:39 PM: There are concerns that children are not receiving the education they would have otherwise. Will schools be capable of reopening in the fall and what can you do to ensure they are receiving the education they need if they do not?
Governor: I think this is a major concern. Many teachers are making strides in distance learning but some kids don't have internet or have other issues. The fact that we know so little about COVID-19 makes us feel that schools cannot reopen any time soon but every school is currently looking into ways they can reopen. We still don't know how things will be by the fall but we will do everything we can.
2:42 PM: It sounds like many childcare centers will have to turn families away. How do you plan on advising them on that subject?
Governor: I think it's going to be difficult for any of us to predict how the market will change with these new rules. We are giving money to childcare providers in order to ensure they are capable of reopening. This is a work in progress, which means that we're still learning and finding out new ways to lessen the spread of COVID-19, while reopening childcare.
Childcare providers may have to hire more employees in order to serve the families they had in the past. Unfortunately, some may not be capable of reopening due to financial troubles. We did all of these things in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we will keep making these decisions with that in mind.
2:46 PM: It seems that cases, deaths, and other metrics have plateaued rather than gone down. What has changed in how you perceive success as time has gone on?
Governor: We've seen a plateau over three weeks in terms of all of our metrics. We were most worried about a large surge. We're still ramping up our testing. We're doing 8,000 tests every day sat this point. We need to keep our testing capacity increasing while also ensuring our supply chain can keep getting those tests out to those who need them. Testing and contact tracing is how we're going to keep this virus from spreading. There are many other indicators, such as traffic rates throughout the state, that we are looking at in order to make future decisions regarding mitigations.

Amy Acton: No one on our team is ignoring the concern and worry that Ohioans are feeling right now. As we go on, you need to keep in mind how at risk you are and use that knowledge to make your decisions and keep yourself safe.
2:51 PM: Using what we've learned about antibody testing, how do we know that we didn't have a surge earlier?
Amy Acton: This is a process that will take years. We won't understand COVID-19 for quite some time. Many have been claiming that they had many symptoms of COVID-19 early on in the knowledge of the disease. Obviously, as time goes on, hindsight will be 20-20. We'll keep looking into new information as it comes out.
2:54 PM: The most prevalent question I've received is regarding the unemployment system not serving Ohioans properly. I know you've made improvements but many feel it is not enough. What more can you do for them?
Lieutenant Governor: This is the thing I've been most frustrated for Ohioans about personally. Director Kim Hall has been working to do everything her team can do to improve the system and has already created the new system for 1099 employees. I know that around 100,000 people have not been served yet and many others have not been able to get through to receive more information on their claims. We're all doing everything we can to expand the system as possible. Our system is very old and difficult to update but many other states are facing these same issues. Unfortunately, we have received many fraudulent claims and those need to be policed and denied. This is part of what leads to such delays.
2:59 PM: What targets will state agencies be hitting in terms of reductions in the coming fiscal year?
Governor: We'll be discussing that with the legislature. We've already made very tough cuts but we don't have any new information available at this time. One thing I can say is that this is a very difficult time. Costs are going up and our revenues are decreasing dramatically.
3:01 PM: Do you have an idea of how many families might be left out of day cares? Will licensing become more flexible? What about using school facilities?
Governor: It's not our goal to have any families left out of the system. We're doing surveys on how many providers will be coming back. We'll adjust as necessary. We can't make any definitive statements at this time.
Lieutenant Governor: Please remember that we're working on supporting the childcare industry to ensure that all of this can work.
3:03 PM: Are you going to remove Dr. Acton's order that closed school facilities until June in order to allow youth sports to reopen?
Governor: We were actually just discussing that earlier. It's a very good point. We're still looking into that.
Lieutenant Governor: Grounds are not technically closed by the order, only buildings. We will not be forcing any local community to reopen. I am sure that as we go on, there will be things that slipped through the cracks and we want to ensure that the lines of communication are open as much as possible.
3:06 PM: Are you concerned about a pending legal battle over your orders? As you know, Wisconsin's stay at home order was struck down by their Supreme court.
Governor: I have already been sued a lot. We want to ensure that our orders conform more to what we are seeing day to day. We are seeing stories from Europe about second waves and we really don't want to have to see that in Ohio. We need to be very careful as everything opens up. Staying safe in this crucial time will decide our future numbers and whether we have to close again.
3:08 PM: There is a feeling that your Minority Health Task Force hasn't made any new statements or released more information. What is going on with this?
Governor: I will be talking about that either Monday or Tuesday. This virus has pulled back the curtain on poverty and racial issues, especially in regards to health care access. We've worked with the legislature to look into issues of infant and maternal mortality and we saw these issues already. We're now going to have to figure out new ways to help African American communities in Ohio. That will come next week.
3:11 PM: Why are we not hearing more about treatment? Also will we not be returning to normal life until a vaccine comes out? Is Hydroxychloroquine being given out to patients?
Amy Acton: I talked a lot about treatment early on but I can talk about it more in the future. We've received shipments of new drugs for use against COVID-19. There is still developing information on drugs like Hydroxychloroquine, in terms of its affect on COVID-19. For now we'll have to treat the symptoms up until we can find a cure, if we can find a cure. The thing that worries me the most is the low oxygen levels found in those with COVID-19, who are walking around, not even realizing it.
3:16 PM: How can you prove to those who are trusting in your orders that reopening as we are is safe?
Amy Acton: When we first made our orders, we were using information from George Bush's administration, that we believed would best protect Ohioans. We do know that this has had effects on the economy and even people's mental and physical health. This is going to be a collaborative process but it needs to go on with caution. The biggest thing that will slow and stop the spread of disease will be how everyone lives. Be judicious with your choices and decisions as time goes on.
3:19 PM: How do you plan on bringing forward gun reforms in Ohio that you promised, despite the pandemic?
Governor: That's a continuing discussion with the legislature.
3:21 PM: There's been information in certain nursing home facilities regarding the zone and region system you've mentioned that showed that some of them have no information regarding that system. What do you think about that?
Governor: This is not something that should be happening. I believe you that this is happening but it's something that I do not want to have happening. I don't know what facility you're talking about but I think we're going to keep moving forward on that.
Amy Acton: I'll look into this and speak to our leaders in that area regarding improving this.
3:24 PM: Are we getting close to returning to normal regarding surgeries?
Governor: It's been in the past week or so that we've released new orders regarding that. We need to keep monitoring our hospital capacity as time goes on in order to decide if we can return to normal

Since Governor Newsom will not be making a press conference today (it's apparently an observed holiday), I have decided to instead compile a list of guidelines and helpful information to help keep you and your loved ones safe & happy celebrating this July 4th weekend.
Information has been compiled from the Governor himself via Twitter, FB, or covid19.ca.gov as well as various reliable news outlets. Feel free to openly start discussions on specific county laws and ordinances. I have tried to include some pertinent ones for Santa Barbara, Ventura, Orange County, & LA. Masks keep Californians healthy! Wear One! Renewed emphasis on the evidence pointing to decreased transmission rates with masks. Masks are one of the most impactful COVID-19 prevention measures. Countries that have implemented masks or have had universal mask policies in place have seen significantly less spread of COVID-19. Similar trends in other US states who have adopted masks early.
Californians should not gather with people you do not live with. Avoid crowds. We need to temper the curve again like we did months ago. This week is EXTREMELY important, the Governor stresses. He wishes us all a Happy 4th of July otherwise!
"We are just trying to encourage people to be safe, thoughtful of self and others. Just because someone else is doing it, doesn't mean you should..." He encourages people to do the right thing. Look at the hard numbers. The facts.

The rate of positive tests over the last 14 days is 6.4 percent. California’s hospitalizations due to COVID-19 increased by 151 from Wednesday.

The risk of COVID-19 infection is still real for all Californians and continues to be fatal. That is why every business permitted to open should take every step humanly possible to reduce the risk of infection by following these state guidelines.
Can I still leave the house even if I am not a essential critical infrastructure worker?
 
Yes. As described in more detail elsewhere in applicable state public health directives (including on this page), there are a wide range of circumstances in which you may leave your home or other place of residence, even if you are not an Essential Critical Infrastructure Worker. For example, you may leave your home to work at any business or other entity that is allowed to open, to engage in in-person worship and protest activities consistent with public health directives, to patronize local businesses, or to care for friends or family members who require assistance (as set forth under Health care). And errands like these are not the only reasons you may leave your home: you may also leave your home with or without a specific destination in mind (for example, to walk your dog, to engage in physical recreation, or simply to get some fresh air) as long as you maintain physical distancing and comply with any other applicable public health directives.
Are gatherings permitted?
 
State public health directives prohibit professional, social and community gatherings. Gatherings are defined as meetings or other events that bring together persons from multiple households at the same time for a shared or group experience in a single room, space, or place such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, or other indoor or outdoor space. They pose an especially high danger of transmission and spread of COVID-19.
On May 25, 2020, in an effort to balance First Amendment interests with public health, the State Public Health Officer created an exception to the prohibition against mass gatherings for faith-based services and cultural ceremonies as well as protests. Those types of gatherings are now permitted indoors so long as they do not exceed 100 attendees or 25% of the capacity of the space in which the gathering is held, whichever is lower. State public health directives now do not prohibit in-person outdoor faith-based services or protests as long as face coverings are worn and physical distancing of 6 feet between persons or groups of persons from different households is maintained at all times. All other gatherings are prohibited until further notice, except as otherwise specifically permitted in state public health directives (including in applicable industry guidance).
Crowds and limited physical distancing increase the risk for COVID-19. If you attended a protest, remember that confidential, free testing is available. Find a testing location near you. If you test negative it does not mean that you may not develop COVID-19 later on. Therefore, it is advisable that you self-isolate for 14 days if possible.
Which beaches are closed?
 
[Updated 07/03 13:30 pm]: Beaches in the counties of Orange, LA, Ventura, & Santa Barbara have been closed. All associated local/state beach parking has also been closed. Santa Barbara residents may be fined $1,000 or experience jail time for gross disregard of health orders.
Can I set off fireworks this weekend?
 
Please refer to your local county website & guidelines. When setting off fireworks, please consider doing so in safe & considerate manner. CA is entering brush fire season; additionally, we house many veterans who are sensitive to large, explosive noises. county-specific note: VC may impose fines of up to $1,000 for illegal fireworks.
How can I report businesses that are violating COVID-19 industry guidelines?
 
Citizens are encouraged to file reports with their county website. Reports & complaints can also be filed at covid19.ca.gov/ or on specific, department websites (i.e.- OSHA). Many citizens have found that Twitter is an efficient platform is raising awareness to force government bodies and businesses to act. Please help in keeping your community safe! Jonah was born in Las Vegas and lived with his mother, Samantha who was a show girl in a casino. When he was little Jonah had many late nights waiting for his mom to get home and put him to bed. When he turned 16 he would help out at a restaurant attached to the casino after school. His uncle owned it and his kids would help too. He would wipe down tables, wash dishes and sometimes man the cash register. At school he had okay grades but spent most of his time socializing, he was a wide receiver on his high school's football team and was pretty popular. He had a big squad of friends that all were similar minded when it came to parties. He attended a lot of parties and events during his time in at the school. About a year later a this guy, around Jonah's age started coming to the restaurant almost everyday. Jonah didn’t know him that well but one day the guy asked to speak to his mom. Thinking he was in trouble he freaked out as he told her mom. Samantha and the guy later talked without Jonah knowing what was going on, he would then reveal to be a satyr and explained things to Jonah. That night they left Las Vegas in a car they stole from a casino goer.

Jonah exits his cabin having recently gotten settled in. He gets a good look at the campgrounds and the kids hat walk them, Some traveling in groups and others by themselves. He greets the passing people with a wave or a simple nod.

As requested by raleighspritely in the other bridges thread, this post is intended to help generally newer riders figure out specifically how to get onto each bridge in each direction, where all most of the exit options go and any other weirdnesses each bridge may have.
I'll assume you know roughly where you are and roughly how to get to each bridge. Some are easy to find the entrances for (Burrard), some are weird (Cambie, southbound) and some have entrances a long way from where the cars access (Golden Ears) so if they're super weird I'll try and give you more specifics.

And now to talking about crossing bridges!
Granville - follow the instructions for Burrard or Cambie
If you insist on using the GSB (don't) SB access is easiest via Howe St and NB access at 5th & Granville
Burrard
Easiest to get onto IMO as the access is right at the ends of the bridge

• South Bound: connection is at Pacific & Burrard, SW corner. From Beach Ave your options are up Thurlow from the east end of Sunset Beach or just along Pacific from the west end of Sunset beach
  • as you get to the south end of the bridge @ Cornwall you can:
    • go right to Cornwall & Cypress
    • go straight, across Cornwall
    • then right onto Yew
    • more straight to Burrard & First where you can go up Burrard St
    • left @ Burrard & First towards Granville Island
• North Bound: connection is at Cornwall & Burrard. You can also hop on the bike lane easily at 1st & Burrard
  • as you get to the north end you can:
    • right to Hornby & Pacific
    • across Pacific then left onto Pacific towards English Bay
    • straight & up the hill along Burrard to Drake, Burnaby St, Davie St

Cambie
Going southbound on Cambie is super weird to get to unless you're already on Nelson St

• South Bound: access is on Nelson St @ Cambie St which downtown is running almost perpendicular to the bridge. If you're coming from the northeast you can connect via Beatty
  • the main exit will take you to Olympic Village Station
  • If you cut off early (through the flexibarriers) you can pop up Cambie to go left/right on 7th
  • If you stay till the station you can hang a hard left at 2nd to cut under the bridge and go to Olympic Village
  • or cross 2nd and take Heather St south
  • or continue along 2nd briefly to find yourself on Seaside Bypas
• North Bound: access is at Cambie & 2nd by the VPD headquarters on 5th. It's that weird intersection of numbered streets you thought were parallel but also manage to intersect
  • veer left takes you onto what is technically a pedestrian only way that connects to Pacific Blvd EB, yield to pedestrians.
  • right takes you onto a hairpin
    • first right connects you to Cooperage Way/Marinaside and basically the Seawall
    • second right will take you up a short ramp and connect to the Smithe St bike "lane" which can be used to connect to Pacific WB, Richards or all the way up the hill past Burrard & Smithe

Lion's Gate
North Bound:

• climb the Causeway through Stanley Park, it's not too bad especially with the "new" fence
• do a 1/2 Stanley Park loop and as you go around the right turn at what you'll think is the top of the hill you'll see a road to the left with a gate, take that and turn right when you hit the causeway
• watch for the little chicane just before the bridge
• descent down the north side of bridge can be a bit rough & bumpy
• when you get to the north end stay right and go down the little road
  • if you go HARD right when it levels out you can connect to
    • the Spirit Trail east bound
    • Taylor Way which will take you to Parkgate, hang a left at the mall and you can connect to the trail over to Ambleside
  • if you go roughly straightl/left it'll connect onto Marine and along to Capilano

South Bound:

• once you're back directly under the bridge, there's a ramp up the west side of the bridge going north, take that, it'll open up and hang a hard right to turn to face south
• on exit at the pumphouse(?) you can
• continue south
  • you'll come across a road to the right, taking it will get you to Park Dr just before Prospect Point
  • continuing straight takes you along the Causeway and connects onto Georgia ST
• hang a 180deg right, then you can either:
  • cut under the bridge to go back north
  • go left up a fairly steep, narrow paved path to Prospect Pt

Second Narrows/IronworkersThis is one of the weirdest/awkwardest, particularly at the north end
North Bound:

• access is at Cambridge & Cassiar. You can connect up via Cassiar from Adanac or Bridgeway St & a small path if you're coming from Portside
• as you turn right off Cassiar onto Cambridge take the small path to the left, follow the path down, along and up and it'll take you straight onto the bridge, yield to oncoming people
• alternate access is a path off the left side of Fellowes st. It connects closer to the bridge deck but IMO isn't worth taking
• Exits:
  • as you round the right turn of the ramp you can:
  • go left at the pedestrian controlled crosswalk and
    • cross Main to go west to Phibbs, A&W etc
    • hard left onto the bike path parallel to Main and connect to the WB bike path on Barrow st
  • go straight and connect to Dollarton, Old Dollarton
    • left on Old Dollarton then onto Riverside or Seymour River can be used for getting to Seymour Parkway, right goes up to Seymour, left can connect to Cap U
    • straight on Dollarton can be used for going out to Deep Cove

South Bound
Access is here basically across from Phibbs. Many ways to get to it, but you've gotta get to that spot to go south.
Exiting: takes you down through the trees, watch for the pair of switchbacks. You'll end up at the bottom of Skeena St.

• right takes you onto the Portside bike route
• left takes you up Skeena through the tunnel
  • turn right across the crosswalk as you exit the tunnel takes you onto the path you may have used for getting onto the bridge NB, go left to connect back to Cassiar
  • continue up the hill gets you to Skeena & Cambridge
  • it's 6 of One, Half a Dozen of the other if you're going south

Arthur Laing
I regard this as an "experts only" type bridge that I wouldn't recommend to anyone not comfortable with riding in fairly close proximity to cars. There's no separated lane and just a narrow shoulder. That said, I don't feel unsafe on this bridge for some reason, but that might just be from riding it a bunch and being used to riding next to cars. Anyways, onto how to get on/off:
Southbound: access is via the car ramp at where Marine & Granville all come together in a 6 lane clusterfuck that was meant to be the highway through Vancouver. Normally I access coming off NW Marine, onto the clusterfuck, pick up speed down the hill and (with a lot of shoulder checking) get across the right most lane onto the ramp. Go up the ramp and stick to the right.
Exiting: things get dicey/exciting. You'll be crossing roads at speed so be shoulder checking.

• Just before the car exit (and right before the overpass) you can dive right onto a pathway
  • going right, then right again is probably easiest for most connections here
  • this path can be used to go around McArthurGlen and connect to Grauer Rd and then onto Templeton to Iona
  • take it to connect to Airport Rd and the bit of mess of trails and eventuall down to Russ Baker Way
• 1st Car Right: Russ Baker Way, takes you around an off-ramp, will take you SB and connects to No2 Rd
• cross Russ Baker exit (watch for cars exiting), keep going along, you can go right on Templeton and go out to Iona Beach

North Bound: you can either access off the paths off Airport Rd here or by riding north along Russ Baker Way and basically sticking right and following the signs to Vancouver.
Exiting: again a bit dicey with some potential lane crossing

• Sticking right takes you left and onto Marine WB/Granville
  • If it's not too busy and/or you brought your sprinter legs, you can hammer and cross lanes to go left at the first light and connect onto Marine
  • If not, carefully get to the right and make your way up to cross at the same light.
• crossing over (carefully) to the left ramp will take you right and onto Marine EB. You can take your first right and go down Oak St, left on Kent Ave S and eventually connect to Cambie St. I don't know if I've taken this route more than once or twice so YMMV.

Pitt River
This is one of the nicest crossings. All the recently built (or updated) bridges are really, really nice once you're on the deck (Pitt River, Port Mann, Golden Ears + Ironworkers post update).
The cycle/pedestrian lane is on the north side of the span and is nice and wide. Access on the west end requires crossing Belfast Ave/Fremont Connector that loops under the bridge. Since access is all for the one side crossing my instructions are written for West->East travel but basically just do them in reverse for East->West.
Coming from NW (Trabouley Poco Trail/Deboville Slough), you do a couple zigzags and hairpins and crossing Belfast St but you can see your target the whole time so this bridge is honestly one of the easiest to get onto.
Coming from the SW, you go under the bridge parallel to the Fremont Connector then see the access to your left. If you were to keep going on the path instead you'd eventually end up at Deboville Slough.
East end of the bridge drops you in Pitt Meadows. As you exit (eastbound) you can immediately do 180deg turn left to get onto the trails. Another left at the river to go south, north and you can make your way out to Pitt Lake on the trails. To access the trail parallel to, and on the south side of, Lougheed Highway take the left at the river then left again at Ferryslip Rd.
If you go straight Old Dewdney Trunk Rd is a pretty nice ride towards Maple Ridge.
Golden Ears
Alright, this one is possibly the most difficult unless you know exactly where to go, partly because they're a long way along the bridge from where cars access. The Southbound Access is at 113B & Airport Way (Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows). The northbound access is at 100A Ave & 201St (Langley)
Southbound

• You can access the SB access either from Airport Way (coming from the west) or along Maple Meadows Way (coming from the north by Meadowcentre mall). If you're coming from the north or east you go west at the 113B roundabout, cross the road, then left at the second roundabout and hop into the bike lane. If you're coming from the east hang a right at the roundabout and hop into the bike lane.
• The SB exit involves a rather fun ramp down and drops you in an industrial area. Unless you're going east, my recommendation is work your way west until you get to 98A & 192, cross to the far side then hop on the GoldenEars Greenway.

Northbound
Access is at 100A Ave & 201St. You go up the multilevel round ramp. Your exit will basically be the aforementioned 113B roundabout, you can go straight through it to get onto Maple Meadows Way towards the mall, right will change into 203St as it turns north or go left and west towards the airport.
Canada Line Bridge
This one is on the side of the Canada Line bridge section between Marine & Cambie Station & Bridgeport Station.
North connection is on Kent Ave S @ Cambie. However you have to go east from Kent Ave N & Cambie to turn south to get onto Kent Ave S and access the ramp. If you're coming down Cambie, hang a right on Kent Ave N.
South Connection is at River Road and Van Horne Way.
If you're going North then east, my recommendation is take Cambie north, then cut east at 59th. Kent Ave N between Cambie and Ontario sucks butt and cars are frequently impatient assholes on that section (it's also rough, needs a repave and has a lot of rail tracks).
If you're going north then west you can go west on Kent Ave N and then right on Heather before climbing a bit and taking the westbound route of your choice.
If you're just going north then Cambie, Ontario & Heather are all pretty good choices with Ontario & Heather being quieter. I can't remember how all of Heather's crossings are since I haven't ridden it past 59th in years.
If you're going South, you can go:

• west along River Rd towards the casino & Bridgeport Station
  • continue SW around the clusterfucks that are Bridgeport Rd, SeaIsland Way and you can return to River Rd and hop onto a gravel trail that you can take pretty much all the way to Steveston
• south on Van Horne way to eventually connect onto Garden City Way. This route is about 95% bike lane but theres a one or two spots where taking the sidewalk is unfortunately the prudent choice (I think the south side of Sea Island Way for ~50m) before the bike lane reappears.
• east on River Rd towards Shell Rd. If you take Shell Rd far enough south there's a gravel trail that you can use to get to Hammersmith Gate, Horseshoe Way and across to Rice Mill Rd where you can find the Massey Tunnel Shuttle (this is my quiet route to the ferry, my fast route is to hammer south on No5)

Port Mann
This one is like the Pitt River Bridge in that the pedestrian/bike path is only on the north/east side of the bridge deck.
West access is where the Port Mann passes over United Boulevard and where Unite intersects the Mary Hill Bypass offramps. If you're coming off the bridge you can go south/west on United and eventually work your way over towards Braid Station. If you go east on the Mary Hill Bypass you can connect to the Traboulay PoCo trail, Argue St and work your way up to the Pitt River bridge. There's also a mess of trails in and around Colony Farm but you're on your own for that :)
East access is a ways up a pretty decent hill at 152st/112Ave by Dogwood Campgrounds. If you're going north/west, the signage is good. Just don't take the overpass over the highway. How you get to 152/112...up to you. It's a big grid!
Alex Fraser
Ok, this one is another bit of a mess in terms of access. I don't think this one is technically unidirectional like the others, but I recommend riding the same way as cars are travelling and this guide will be based on that. Careful on the deck, there's a bunch of spots where you have to dodge the bases of signs and other spots where the path just shifts left/right.
Southbound:
You've made it over the Queensborough or come in from Richmond. You've made it onto the Annacis Channel bridge and are approaching Annacis island. You'll see a bus-stop on an island, you want to get there (if not busy, drop the curb & cut across, otherwise there's a crosswalk to use), take the crosswalk that goes parallel to the bus-only section of intersection, onto the sidewalk on the far-far side and then left and you'll see the path onto the bridge. You'll get dropped off with the choice of left or right. Left takes you towards HWY17, River Rd which are the two options for getting to the ferry (take River, it's quieter and only marginally slower). Right will take you under the bridge, and after you go past Planet Ice you can go left towards River Rd east, right-then-right to get onto Nordel north/east or just right for the Delta-South Surrey Greenway.
If you're trying to get to South Surrey, go as if you're going up Nordel, get over the overpass, then take the trail that cuts back to the right. This is the North Delta Greenway and is superior to the DSS Greenway in basically every way including being WAY smoother (I ride it on my carbon road bike on 25mm tires).
North Bound:
Starting from Planet Ice, take the path up onto the bridge, ride across, question why you're out here and didn't just take the Massey Shuttle to get home faster...
At the north end of the bridge, you'll end up next to the Annacis exit ramp. At the end of it, you want to take the small crosswalk onto the island with the bus stop, across Cliveden ave onto the island on the far side, then across another little crosswalk onto the path and hang a left. Stick to this path, you'll go back over the Annacis Channel and find yourself at a zig-zagging ramp. At the bottom of that you have the options of:hard right: path through to Hamilton Highway Park where you can take an overpass towards River Rd
left then right: onto Boundary Rd then Dyke rd, you can use this to get over towards Westminster Highway via Fraserwood Way.
left then left (generally recommended): take Boundary Rd north. At Boundary & Boyd you can go right to the Queensborough or left onto Westminster Hwy which you can use to get all the way to Richmond or to connect to River Rd
Queensborough
because New West is at a 45deg angle I'll be using "up/down and top/bottom" for this bridge because it's effectively a hill. Top is 22nd St station end, bottom is Queensborough Landing.
The top connection is just below 22nd St Station. If you're coming from 22nd St station just take the bridge down, it'll drop you on Boyd St. Left takes you to QB Landing. Right takes you to...not a lot. It's narrow, you'll probably have to slow down a bunch as you pass people.
If you're coming from Market Crossing area or New West (both via Marine Dr) I recommend taking the "up" side of the bridge down because it has about 1% of the traffic the "down" side does.
To get to it, the access is the ramp on the "cars up" side of the bridge. Otherwise, you can use the ramp on the "cars down" side to connect to the "down" side.
Either way as you're going down, watch for the hairpins at the bottom!
If you're going up and heading to downtown New West take the "up" side. Head east along Marine/Stewardson. You can eventually head right down a side street to get to S&O because that's why you're in New West right? If not, you're at S&O now. Best way to get through to the rest of downtown is via the Quay.
If you're going up and heading to anywhere else take the "down" side and go all the way to 22nd St Station. Right and past the station connects to 7th Ave across New West. Left you can use to get onto both Marine Dr or Marine Way to go west to Market Crossing, Big Bend, Glenlyon, River District. Straight turns into the BC Parkway and travels under the skytrain past Edmonds, Royal Oak, Metrotown stations.
Knight St
Recommendation: if you can, keep going west and take the Canada Line Bridge. This bridge was NOT intended for cyclists at all as you're about to learn and this section may get a little rant-y.
Northbound:

• Access is off Bridgeport. Technically you're not supposed to ride on the roadway, but the sign for that is so late onto the bridge you have to know this in advance unless you want to stop and lift your bike over the concrete barrier.
• That said, assuming you knew to get onto the sidewalk somewhere at the start of the on-ramp before the barrier begins (it starts at a crosswalk and there's no curb cut), you'll be riding on a pretty narrow sidewalk with barriers both sides. It's rough.
• You'll eventually get to an off-ramp, this is Mitchell Island. You'll need to take the crosswalk across to the left. The cut in the barrier is super narrow. Cross the island, drop the curb (again no curb cut) and cross to the next section of sidewalk. Continue north.
• Next spot you'll get to gives the option of a crosswalk to the left, riding straight into a post in the middle of the path, or dodging the post and continuing straight/veering right. Go right, this takes you down to Marine Dr.
• At Marine you'll find signs pointing to the Kent, Inverness & Borden bike routes
  • Kent involves following the path to the right and taking your first right
  • Inverness involves taking the couple crosswalks and getting across Marine, going under the KSB overpass, hop back on the sidewalk after the bridge and follow the signs up to Inverness
  • Borden I've never done, but I think involves getting across Marine, then taking the sidewalk east to the first street north

Southbound (I haven't gone SB on this bridge in a long time)
Access is via the onramp at Inverness & Marine. If crossing SB on Inverness watch for cars not understanding how stoplights work and driving into the intersection.
Take the on-ramp, hop onto the sidewalk.
First exit is Mitchell Island, get across the island. Get back onto the sidewalk.
Second exit is Bridgeport and provided you take that off-ramp you'll end on a sidewalk on Bridgeport pointed west. First intersection will be Sweden Way, turn left for IKEA, right takes you up to Vulcan Way which can be used to connect to River, No5 & No6 Rds.
Opinion: the KSB needs a cycling infrastructure update more than the GSB. The GSB is bad, but at least Cambie and Burrard are basically adjacent.
Oak St Bridge
Disclaimer: I have ridden across this bridge exactly once, only north bound on the southbound side. I will provide links to where I think the access to the NB path is, but I can't guarantee it.
This accesses I used for this bridge are near enough to the Canada Line Bridge so I would recommend just using that. Also the access Oak St Bridge are all off bigger roads so just awkward to get to.

Once you're on the bridge it's just ride along until you're at the other end. The surface is weird concrete sections that have all gone a bit convex so it's a weird kinda bumpy ride.

Hey, guys. Me again. It’s been one hell of a day.
First off, I did listen to your advice. I decided against going camping, and as many other people suggested, I decided to continually drive.
Many people suggested that I leave immediately, but I needed to prepare. Using my credit cards would be easily traceable, and my own could be tracked through the license plate.
Last night, right after I put up my post, I withdrew a large amount of money from my account. And rented a car. Everything was set for this morning.
We woke up at 4 A.M and left for the road. At this point I hadn’t yet told Sam everything. I was scared. You have to understand that it’s difficult telling your partner that you think a shadowy government organization is trying to ruin your life.
She slept through the beginning of the drive anyway, which gave me a chance to recollect myself and think. Many of you mentioned how little of a reaction I had when my mother was brutally murdered. Things were tough, and while she tried her best to raise me, my father broke her. While I don’t blame her for most of what happened, as that honor goes to my father, I never really had a solid relationship with her either.
The first solid parental figure I had was my aunt, and she passed away several years ago from old age, as she was much older than my mother. I was still very affected by my mother’s death, but I have a habit of hiding my emotions. Really the only person who gets me to open up is Sam. She was the one who helped me through most of that. I’m not proud of the stuff I did in my first year or so of high school. I don’t want to really get into all that, but the point is, Sam found me, saw the good in me, and brought it forth. I wouldn’t be half as successful as I am without her.
Seeing my mom dead was very shocking. I was sick from all the gore, but emotionally, I felt weird. Rather than sadness, it just felt weird. I hadn’t seen my mother in years, and now she was just gone. I feel kind of guilty for not feeling bad, and for not going to see her for years. Sorry for the rambling, I know you guys are just here for the spooks, but idk you might be curious. I just really have trouble building connections with people, and I’m fairly sure I would be a complete loner if it wasn’t for Sam.
Around hour three of driving, Sam woke up.
“Hey,” She said, groggily. It was cute seeing her rub the sleep out of her eyes.
“Hey, there sleepy,” I said back, giving her a warm smile.
She smiled back, looked at the clock, and said, “Hey, we should’ve been at the campgrounds by now. What’s up with that?” She asked.
I sighed, “We’re not going camping. It wouldn’t be safe,” I said.
“Okay. Tell me what’s going on,” she said, “there’s something you’re not telling me.”
I took a pause before I continued, “Look, you know that letter I got on Friday?”
“The one in the black envelope that offered 10 million dollars?”
“Yeah, well it was real. So, we have to run. Also, the 10 million isn’t a factor anymore.”
“What?”
Oh yeah, that’s something I forgot to mention. I called the number this morning. It didn’t go according to plan.
I dialed the number and called. It instantly answered, and an automatic message played.
Hello, Mr. Jones!
Thank you for calling. By calling this number, you have chosen to opt out of the 10 million dollar prize at the end of the week. Due to the effort put into this project, we are unable to cancel your daily tortures, but we will happily cancel the delivery of the prize money. Goodbye!
I knew then that I couldn’t be making anymore mistakes. Sam’s life was most likely on the line.
“Why the fuck didn’t you tell me about this sooner?!” Sam screamed at me.
“I-”
“You know what? Don’t tell me. Doesn’t fucking matter.”
The rest of the drive we sat in silence.
Eventually, we made it to a fairly large city in the next state over. There, we decided to take a break and stay for the night. I thought we could blend in with the crowds, but I overlooked something vital. Sam had managed to hide the fact that she had a phone, this whole time. I was pissed. How could she have not realized that this puts her in jeopardy?
This soon showed to be more dangerous than I could’ve ever thought. We spent the evening in a large casino. I thought it could help us blend in, and it would give me a good opportunity to destroy Sam’s phone. Plus, she was fairly exhausted from the long day, and some fun was due for her, but I made sure to watch her like a hawk.
While Sam played at a slot machine, I pretended to go to the bathroom. While I walked away I sneakily took her phone from her purse. I managed to duck out of sight, but so that I could watch Sam. It gave me just enough time to stomp on her phone.
We ate a nice dinner at the casino, and then I drove us to a hotel on the complete opposite side of town. It was late, and I was exhausted, so I decided not to do any night driving. I managed to get a suite that had a computer so I could give you an update.
I’ve had an awful headache ever since I got to the hotel, and I just couldn’t shake it off. It was made much worse by Sam screaming at me after she discovered her phone was missing. It didn’t take long for her to realize what happened to it.
“I swear to God. Andy you’re go fucking nuts! Driving us out of state because you got a spooky letter in the mail that you had NO PROOF was real, and now you get rid of our only means of communication with out fucking families. Well, my family at least, since it seems like you don’t give a shit about yours!” She shrieked at me.
I could instantly see the regret on her face. Tears stung my eyes, but I had no time to cry.
Thud.
Thud.
THUD!
The door to the suite slammed open. The bastard who I stabbed with a butter knife had burst through the door and charged at us. I saw a steak knife lying on the counter of kitchen area. With no time to think, I lunged for it, grabbed it, and right as the man ran into me I stabbed at him. Hitting him in the side of the neck. He hit the ground. He gurgled and managed to sputter some words.
“Just.. like.. Xavier.”
I had a panic attack then. I blacked out for about half an hour. When I came to, Sam had cleaned up the scene mostly. She was shockingly calm. She does tend to get calm in intense situations, but I just fucking killed someone. She handed me a black envelope.
“I found this in his coat pocket,” She said.
There was another letter inside, and it read like so,
Dear, Mr. Jones,
I detest this game of cat and mouse. Please stop wasting my time. Running will only make things worse.

It was then I realized that Sam and I needed to run as fast as we could. This man was expendable. The bastards wanted me to kill him. God, that was today’s torture. I gave into it. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
It was almost as if Sam could hear my thoughts. She grabbed my hand.
“Let’s get out of here, I'll drive.” She said, looking me deep in the eyes.
I love her so much.
